Happy May Day!!!!

......
Happy May Day to all you Pagans, commies and worker bees out there!
It's a good time to honor some of the folks who have made life a little easier for us nowadays. I know, work can be a drag but it's not half as bad as it was in the old days before unions and labor laws.
Pictured above is Clinton Jencks, someone who spent his life in the struggle for the working class and equality for women. Until his death last year, I knew him only as the husband of a customer of mine. Marjorie Cohn wrote a nice piece on Clinton for Truthout, it's an interesting history of a man that more people should know about including his short stint as a movie star in a film called "Salt of the Earth", a film that was banned in the US and still is in Mexico. Check it out, and remember that people went to jail, received beatings and some were killed in the effort to make life easier for all of us. They were and still are the true soldiers who fought for our great democracy.
The Internationale

Arise ye prisoners of starvation
Arise ye toilers of the earth
For reason thunders new creation
`Tis a better world in birth.

Never more traditions' chains shall bind us
Arise ye toilers no more in thrall
The earth shall rise on new foundations
We are naught but we shall be all.

Then comrades, come rally
And the last fight let us face
The Internationale
Unites the human race.

I'll see if I can get the movie. If it's blacklisted, then it's much more worth the effort.

It's no longer blacklisted here in the US, I rented it from netflix last year and enjoyed it quite a bit.

Hi Blue! I think there are a lot of people that miss Clinton, he was an extrordinary person in an ordinary world. His passing away was an insriration for me to get more involved because I realized the time now is our time to continue the struggle and keep it going......
