Patriot harrassed by anti-American subversives......

While our children are being mutilated and dying in Iraq for the great cause of Freedom and Democracy, anti-American subversives are trying to harrass and intimidate true American patriots into submission. The following is a letter I received yesterday from a dear friend.............

Barney, my neighbor and friend came by today to pass along a message from the owners and manager of the senior mobile home park where I live. He was upset and distraught. "They are after you again," he said. I could be evicted if I don't stop my subversive activities. People are complaining and getting mad.
The litany of subversive activities are as follows:
1. Too many bumper stickers on my car, all anti war.
2. Upside down flag hanging in my driveway, (after the message on the front of my house) upsetting the flag police
3. Collecting used political signs in my drvieway (valid, they should be in my shed)
4. Painting antiwar signs in my driveway and leaving them visible while they dry
5. Putting up anti Bush signs on phone poles and other public places in the neighborhood (outside the mobile home park) WHO ME?
6. Having antiwar gatherings at my home.
7. Having a small NO WAR sign, now I have a huge PEACE sign
Now that my driveway is all shiney and uncluttered, I will begin my own photographic record. I will watch the mail for my LETTER OF WARNING about these unpatriotic acts. The neo-con owners would have no problem whatsoever if I were painting prowar signs, there is no doubt of that.

And it's 1,2,3 what are we fighting for?

Lets get pedantic

I'm fed up with the so called "conservatives" getting away with accusing certain people of being "Liberal" when in fact according to the definition, being Liberal seems to me to be a rather positive quality. In a recent election here, the Democratic candidate was accused of taking money from a "Liberal" organization (Move On), as though that in itself is some big crime. I think people are letting the rethugs off too easy when they don't challenge these types of attacks. Lets hold their feet to the fire and make them come up with something more substantial. I hear from people on our side that maybe we should call ourselves "progressive" because of what they've done to the word but I think we need to take the word back. Let them call us Liberals, so what! Nothing wrong with that. Demand a deeper explanation and you'll find that they don't have one.
I'm making up "Liberal" cards if anyone wants one. I'm a card carrying Liberal and proud of it!
While we're at it, lets take back the flag, they've been wearing it too long, and it never was intended to be apparel.

Apathy

What does it take to "energize" democratic voters? We just had a primary election here to determine the Democratic challenger to Duncan Hunter in the 52nd Congressional District and even though there were 5 different candidates to choose from, only roughly 25% of the registered democrats turned out.
Hunter has been in office for 26 years and is a primary figure in the Bush administrations cult of traitors and killers. Bush's approval rating although I'm sure it's higher here, is 28% for the state of California. If having 10s if not 100s of thousands of innocent civilians killed in their name doesn't "energize" them, if having theirs and their childrens economic futures flushed down the toilet doesn't energize them, if having their civil liberties taken away doesn't "energize" them, what will?
The republicans energize their base by scaring them with boogiemen. The sacred marraige institution destroyed by sex crazed gays. Abortions on every street corner. Liberals in control of the government giving away every working persons hard earned paycheck to welfare queens. And the foreigners, oh my god, what about them? They're producing children faster than the patriots can keep up with and before you know it, we'll all be paying our taxes in pesos! Pot smokers? Don't even get started on that one.
So what's it going to be? Do we have to scare our base? Shouldn't they already be scared enough? Are they so shallow that they need to be propagandized? Are they so foolish as to believe that they can ignore whats going on because they "don't trust anyone?". Have they forgotten that the US government is supposed to be run by the people for the people? Now granted, that is not really the way it is now. It's more like government for the corporations run by the corporations and that is the way it will stay if they are allowed.
What if the USA itself were a corporation? And all the citizens were stockholders? They would be having fits at the way the board of directors were destroying the company, they would demand accountability. So?
Guess what? In a sense, this country is like a corporation and people should be demanding accountability. They are being driven into financial and moral bankruptcy by the board of directors and there needs to be a house cleaning from the top down.
Will they respond? Can they pull themselves away from their beer and porn long enough to have a positive effect on this situation? Or is it hopeless? Pathetic?

How will the rest of the world treat US when this is all over? Will they frogmarch all of us in front of the graves of our victims the way US soldiers did to German citizens after the big war? Will there be another Nuremberg Trials, this time for Bush and his sorry band? Can this all be stopped before the rest of the world acts against us?
Time will tell eh?
Now back to your regular programming.......................

Thinking of voting for Jerry Brown Tuesday?

Police Violence Shocks Activists, Others at Port of Oakland Protest by Dana Hull

An anti-war demonstration at the Port of Oakland turned violent this morning when Oakland Police opened fire with wooden dowels, "sting balls," concussion grenades, tear gas and other non-lethal weapons when protesters at the gates of two shipping lines refused an order to disperse…

"Our guys were standing in one area waiting to go to work, and then the police started firing on the longshoremen,'’ said Henry Graham, the president of ILWU Local 10. "Some were hit in the chest with rubber bullets, and seven of our guys went to the hospital. I don’t want to imply that the police deliberately did this, but it doesn’t make sense.'’…

"I was there from 5 a.m. on, and the only violence that I saw was from the police,'’ said Joel Tena, the constituent liaison for Vice Mayor Nancy Nadel. "What happened today was very surprising. It seemed the police were operating under the assumption that they were not going to let any kind of protest happen."

Flunkin' Duncan....Immigration

Hunter attempts to demonize people who enter the US without papers by refering to them as "illegal aliens" and he advocates building a wall across the entire US to "protect" us from them. Perhaps if Duncan would pay attention to the real facts, he would realize that the immigrants are in fact "economic refugees" who are fleeing their countries in droves because of economic factors created by NAFTA and the World Trade organization.
see.....NAFTA gives Mexicans new reasons to leave home.
Hunter has had 26 years in office to address this issue of immigration but has failed to stop the flow or to address the real causes. As a "cheap labor conservative" and corporate shill this comes as no surprise.

Another central issue is the rise of economic refugees. With the rapid development of cheaper and more widespread means of global travel and, some would claim, widening inequalities of wealth between countries, larger numbers of people are now forced to leave their homelands to seek jobs, usually by entering wealthier nations illegally. This development raises questions about how best to protect the rights of those forced by poverty to leave their homeland to face exploitation by criminal gangs offering transport across the world and unscrupulous employers in the host nation. This new refugee problem has also led to political controversy in Europe and America, where anti-immigration campaigns and parties have experienced a rise in support by arguing for tougher immigration controls and/or expulsion of immigrants. Those opposing such solutions argue that economic refugees are merely the victims of an iniquitous process of globalisation which has destroyed jobs and growth in their homeland and that addressing this problem is the only realistic and just way to deal with the rise in refugee migration.

One result of the building of the border fence has been to create a market for human smugglers better known as "coyotes". According to a recent report generated by the office of Rep. Issa only 6 percent of apprehended coyotes were prosecuted in 2004. Traditional methods of crossing the border have become difficult since the fence went up, therefore a large majority of crossers have been delivered by the coyotes. Consequently if more coyotes were prosecuted , the flow could be virtually shut off. Why doesn't Duncan take this approach? Could it be that he really doesn't want it to stop?

I find it hard to believe that he is serious about the issue. Maybe the issue provides him with fodder to scare voters, just another wedge issue for him to exploit. Delusional Duncan digging for dirt because he lacks anything tangible to discuss or brag about.

On the "Flunkin' Duncan" report card for immigration policies and fair trade issues, he gets an ......F
